Are you new to Episcopal services?

Wonder what the differences between the services are?

Then you've come to the right place!

Episcopal services are found in our Book of Common Prayer and have deep roots in Christian tradition. We seek to be in dialogue with our tradition, bringing out what is good and old and making it come alive today.

 Holy Eucharist

The word 'Eucharist' means thanksgiving. Whenever we celebrate Holy Eucharist, we are giving thanks to God for all the blessings in our lives. We thank God for our creation and redemption, and we continually ask for God's presence in our lives as we try to love justice, love our neighbors, and love God.

There are two parts to the Eucharist: the Service of the Word and Holy Communion.

During the Service of the Word, we read passages from the Bible and hear a sermon explaining the Gospel in our lives. This gives us a chance to listen to God.

Holy Communion is where we praise God and remember the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and through the consecrated bread and wine we are united with Christ.

What's the Difference Between the 8:30 and the 10:30 Sunday Services? And What's the Tuesday Eucharist Like?

The 8:30 Sunday Eucharist is a quiet service with no hymns or music, so it lends itself to a meditative, introspective feel. The rhythm of the prayers guides us along as we listen and pray to God.

The 10:30 Sunday Eucharist is our 'full service' Eucharist complete with a fantastic choir, hymns, anthems and refrains, and a sung liturgy. As St. Augustine said, "He who sings, prays twice."

The Tuesday 12:10 Eucharist is a small, intimate group. We generally celebrate the life and ministry of a saint at that Eucharist, learning from their good example.
