Due to the many teenagers who are pregnant or who have given birth at South High School, it is important to help them take care of themselves, their children and their future. Keeping them in school is critical; the demands of caring for a child are immense, and the community must help support them so that they can complete their education and provide for their children.

Working alongside St. Martin of Tours' Episcopal Church, Interfaith Health Services, the Visiting Nurses Association, the counseling staff at South High School and a variety of other service agencies, we are working to provide teen mothers and fathers at South High with resources to keep them in school, prepare them to for motherhood, and help them prepare a positive future for themselves and their child.

The program consists of three components:

  1. Speakers from community agencies to help train the parents in parenting and self-care skills.
  2. Academic and homework support to give parents extra help in excelling in their schoolwork.
  3. Educational sessions with the VNA and Educare

If you're interested in helping out with this program, contact Deacon Kim Roberts at 402-342-7010 ext 121 for more information. There is always room for more baby supplies and more tutoring volunteers.
